I know I normally write about sales tips, but this month, I wanted to share our company's values.
I never intended to start my own business. As far as values go, I didn’t establish them at the beginning either. I always thought that company values were something the marketing department made up as some copy filler. Little did I know, I would have our company's values come to me organically, and they are now of vital importance to the work we are doing.
Last year, our first full year in business (2023), our values came to be. Each quarter, there was a moment with a client, colleague, project, vendor or other COI (a Center of Influence) that made me think of each of these values, and why they were something that I would always follow as our North Star.
🌼 GRACE: At the end of the day, all of us are human beings who deserve grace. We will always give grace to each other and clients. No unreasonable expectations here.
🤝 INTEGRITY: We will ALWAYS do the right thing. Always. We will never do anything shady, we will always be transparent, and we will most certainly go out of scope to deliver on promises and make sure every client of ours walks away with a great experience.
🙏 RESPECT: We will always treat everyone with respect both internally and externally. We will hold each other to this, and every voice will be heard. We will be 100% transparent with our feedback, never talk behind someone’s back, and demand radical honesty. No one will ever feel that they need to hold back or be someone else in order to be heard. Everyone's opinion counts.
🔍 CURIOSITY: We will never settle for what we know. We will always ask as many questions as we possibly can. We will never remain stagnant, whether in our tech tools, the services we offer, or how we dedicate our time to constantly learning and growing.
As I write these down and review them, it appears that these are core selling values as well. Fancy that.
Our company's growth may lead these values to evolve, as our team has their own pivotal experiences that form what’s important to them about the work we are doing. Until then, I’m grateful to have established this strong foundation.
